Hi Friends,
Over 10 years ago I heard Michael Berg interviewed on ‘As It Happens’ on CBC radio. He talked about how he chose to forgive the man who had killed his son and about how he refused to participate in this cycle of hatred. I thought he was the bravest man I had ever heard speak. When I found out later on in the interview that he was called a coward and a traitor and even shot at, I felt compelled to do something about it, so I wrote my song ‘Forgiveness’. I am deeply proud to be able to call Michael my friend now, and deeply proud to be able to share this interview that ‘As It Happens’ did with Michael and I as part of their 50th anniversary where they’ve been revisiting some of their favourite stories. Michael’s message feels more important to me than ever before, and my admiration for him could never be overstated. I was profoundly touched by the experience of reuniting with Michael on the radio last week, and honoured to be able to share it with you now. It will air tonight just after the 7 o’clock news on CBC Radio nationwide, but it’s also available to listen to and read about here:
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and more forgiveness in all of our lives. Much love, P
